Mysore-Style Ashtanga

Ashtanga Yoga translates to “8 Limbed Yoga”, first expounded upon in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a system of Yoga practice that was brought to popularity by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the mid 20th century, continues to evolve and is studied worldwide. Incorporating Mysore-style practice into your yoga and/or fitness routine adds a level of authenticity that recognizes the true roots of modern power yoga.

Ashtanga is a vinyasa method with a set sequence of postures. The sequence is progressive, each posture is built on the previous posture. The teacher moves through the room, giving assistance, instruction, and guidance. Practitioners are encouraged to enter the room quietly and begin to practice, staying as long as desired and leaving quietly when practice is complete. This practice emphasizes pairing breath with movement without music. The room will be warm (not hot like other VYF power formats), heated with infrared heat. Suitable for beginners and experienced yogis. Modifications available.
